Congratulations also to our two nett winners David Sansom (Vets) and Martin Durham (Super Vets). Thanks to all who took part.

It was good to see so many still in the Clubhouse as the final groups completed their rounds and saw the Vets Champion come in towards the end of the field.

12th October 2025 The Letherhed Cup

The annual Letherhed Cup was played for Past Captains and committee against the members. We had 12 teams on each side with the past Captains and Committee lead by the Men’s Captain and the Members side lead by our incoming Vice Captain Simon Jones. It was a wonder day including the weather with both teams battling hard. It was a very close competition with the Past Captains and committee winning and retaining the cup 6.5 to 5.5. All coming down to the last pair.

Thanks to all who played and stayed to watch the final pair finish on the 18th green. Better luck next year to the Members Team.

27th September 2025 Ryder Cup Team Pairs Matchplay Event

A big thank you to everyone who played in the Ryder Cup event. The Leatherhead Captains taking on Michael and Charlie which was a close run match, but sadly as the Captains of Europe we lost 2&1. It was a great success, with Team USA taking the win and we hope everyone enjoyed the day.

It was great that the club organised the event with the outside large screen and some members still being at the Club gone 10:30pm on Saturday evening. Thankfully over the weekend, it was great to see the European Ryder Cup Team hold on and retain the Ryder Cup.

21st September 2025 Aldridge Cup Greensomes Medal (MBC)

Thanks to Ulrich for partnering myself on the day and ensuring we managed to secure a place in the Trophy winners competition this year.

14th September 2025 Presidents Day Mixed Stableford (MBC)

An impressive field of 86 entered the Presidents Day Mixed Stableford (MBC). The President Ken Bridgeman and Colin Grassing were touring the course on a buggy and providing refreshments to all who played during the day.

It was good to see so many members support Ken and stay for the lunch afterwards before the results were announced.

The competition on the day was won by Joe Bonnici (21) with 41points, second place was Robert Cooke (4) on 40 points and in third place was Stephen Conlon (13) with 39 points on countback from Arne Decaestecker (20).

However, unfortunately Joe was 10 days short of the three month joining period to be able to qualify for the Main Board and Trophy, although he won the overall winners prize on the day. Hopefully Joe will get his chance to win a Main Board Competition in the future.

The Presidents Day Trophy being won by Rob Cooke.

7th & 8th September 2025 Men’s Captain’s Away Day(s)

A Leatherhead contingent of 34 members and two past members headed to Dale Hill Golf Club for two days of Stableford competitions. We were blessed with sunny weather on both days and were able to make the most of the bar balcony watching everyone complete the second round.

A massive thank you to all those that took part and supported myself and the Captain’s Charities over the two days. We raised a further £1056 for the Crossroads Care Surrey and 4Louis.

The winner on day one on the Woosnam Course was John Davidson with 37 points on countback from Guy Williams and Keith Tollick third with 36 points.

The winner on day two on the Dale Hill old Course was Guy Williams with 39 points having played well on both days. Second was Dave Arrow on 38 points and Eddie Larter third with 35 points.

Keith Stinson, Men’s Club Captain

6th September 2025 GOTY 7 / MBC Ron Probert Trophy Medal

A good field of 65 entered the Ron Probert Trophy for the 7th golfer of the year competition. On what was a glorious sunny day at the start of September, I was fortunate to play with the winner on the day who shot a stunning 10 under his handicap. Let’s say he isn’t playing of 15 now.

The competition was won by Chris Tourell (15) with a stunning nett 61, followed by Dimitri Lazarou (24) who must have thought he had done enough with a six under par with a nett 65. In third place was Guy Williams with again a solid four under par which on another day could have won the competition.

It was great to watch Chris’s round whilst mine fell apart on the 11th with a 9!

August Update

25th August 2025 Silver Salvers – Mixed Greensomes Medal

We opened up the Silver Salvers this year to any pairing for inclusivity as this has in the past been for a mixed pair only. The actual winners of the Trophy would follow the tradition of a mixed pairing winning, however the competition on the day could be won by any pairing. Unfortunately, it didn’t see a great number of entries. Mayve it was due to the last Bank holiday of the year. We did however get a field of 16 pairings on the day.

The winners were Charlie Hwang & Jasmine Kim with an impressive nett 66, Second were Sylvia Kempsell & Mervyn Wynard with a nett 68, Third were Jill Olsen and Roger Singleton with a nett 69 on countback. From third to seventh all pairings were on a nett 69.

Congratulations to the winners.

16th August Professional Day

Unfortunately, I was nursing my golfer’s elbow whilst walking around  Weymouth and missed the Professional Day. From all the golfers I have spoken to it was a very well run and enjoyable day at the club. Hopefully there will be more events to come.

10th August 2025 Captain & Pro Charity Round.

Ray Irwin and Neale Higgs laid down the gauntlet to take on Michael and myself for the first Captain & Pro Charity Round of the year.

Ray and Neale came across a well under par Captain & Pro on the day and having played well themselves beat us 4&2. Congratulations to both, and especially Ray who I’ve been his nemesis in the past. Well deserved win.

9th August 2025 GOTY 6 / MBC Charles Smirke Trophy Stableford

A good field of 60 entered the Charles Smirke Trophy for the sixth golfer of the year competition. The scores on the day being very close.

With a good two under his handicap of (2), the competition was won by Alex Rhodes with 38 points on countback, from Adam Liszka with two under his handicap of (13) on 38 points. Ben Klinger being one under his handicap on 37 points on countback in third place from Kalim Nixon and Trevor Turner also on 37 points.

3rd August 2025 Men’s Captain’s Day

A massive thank you to all those that took part in my Captain’s day on Sunday 3rd August with well over £2,500 being raised for the Crossroads Care Surrey and 4Louis.

A field of 83 headed out to do battle and in the end two points separated the top seen players.

After brief “thank you” to all those who worked hard to ensure that the day ran well, Christine Jacobs gave a summary of the great works Crossroads Care Surrey provide. Christine having put herself out to attend, which was much appreciated as it was her child’s birthday.

Congratulations go to John Pearson (a popular winner) on the day winning with 40 points, Alex Hayzelden-Hughes with 39 points, Tom Byrne on Countback third with 38 points followed by Ben Klinger on Countback fourth with 38 points.
Neale Higgs won the shootout on the 18th for all those who has either had a nearest the PIN, Longest drive or Straightest drive! Most of The Past Captains all were their Captains blazers and there was a great atmosphere on the patio after all the presentations.

My thanks again to everyone for all the support and for making my Captains day one to remember

Cheers
Keith Stinson, Men’s Club Captain
