The club's biennial Ryder Cup event, which pitted two teams of 16 pairs against each other in a matchplay competition, finished in an honourable tie on Saturday.
Captain Steve Northeast's team, kitted out in white, played against a blue-clad team managed by Lady Captain Sue Choularton in the 4BBB matchplay format.
It was an exciting finish as everyone sat on the patio in the late September sunshine waiting for the final group to finish their match. As the ongoing leaderboard showed, Sue's team had eight points at that stage and just needed a 'half' to claim victory.
But as we looked over to the last group on the 18th green and saw the celebration of Sylvia Kempsell in her white top and trousers it was clear that Steve's team had claimed a vital point to make the event finish as a friendly tie. Well done to everyone for making it such a memorable day!
