March round-up

2nd March - Kelso Hamilton
Congratulations to Tim Smith and Ian larter who have kicked off the year with the first of the knock out matches by beating Guildford at home. Won 3-1.

22nd February - Scratch
Despite putting out a good team in the scratch match against Camberley Heath, we lost 3½ - 1½. Camberley Heath put out an exceptionally strong team and unfortunately we also had to concede home advantage by playing at their Club. It was a good result given the team they put out and a change of venue.

15th March - Surrey 5's A Team
Well done to Neil Higgs and his team for winning a very close fought match at home against Wentworth. Stephen Conlon going down the 19th to secure the win. Won 3-2.

16th March - Surrey 5's B Team
Following on the next day, the Surrey 5's B team picked by Chris Reed had a convincing win over Clandon Regis away. Won 4-1.

17th March - John Ling
As the current holders of the John Ling, a great start was made in defence of the trophy with a home win against Chipsted. The team won 4-1.

23rd March - Finke Cup
The first Trophy was played for at the start of the season with a good field entering the 4BBB Finke Cup. The team scores were extremely close with the winners being Tony Leslie and Ed van Egmond with a nett 43, beating Nigel Timms and Jake Portch into second place on count back with a nett 43. (Count back going to back 9, then back 6 and back 3 before splitting the winners), with Steve Northeast and Tim Smith in third place with a nett 42 again on count back.

Well played everyone, Keith.

Charity Quiz

A big thank to all those who attended the Charity Quiz night on 31st January in aid of the Captains Charites. The annual Captains Charity quiz was once again well attended and we raised a grand figure of £662.75 to be shared between both the Captains Charities.

The well deserved winners (from a team of only four) coming from the team headed by our own F&B manager Ben Moran, ability supported by Kristina Moran, Lynn Moran and Andy Moran.

We would like to thank our Tim Smith for once again being a great host and quiz master with his glamous assistant Ian Larter, and the staff for putting on the food and keeping everyone topped up during the evening.

Many Thanks

Keith & Camilla.
