Bronze medal for Sylvia in Portugal final

Congratulations to Sylvia Kempsell who this week came third in England Golf's Race To Woodhall Overseas Grand Final at Penina Hotel & Golf Resort, Portugal.

Sylvia, who qualified by winning the England Captains Grand Final in Woodhall Spa earlier this year, was also top woman with 65pts over two Stableford rounds. She'd booked her place in that national final through a regional qualifier at Burhill.

There were 19 finalists in Portugal, who had all qualified through their top-three finishes at the finals of the 2023 and 2024 Race To Woodhall Spa, England Golf Captains Series and the Senior Series finals.

The winner was 13-year-old Harry Camm, from Lincolnshire. He scored 72pts on the Sir Henry Cotton Championship course from his 32 handicap. We can all be very proud of Sylvia.

End of season win

Jennifer Tracey ended her ladies captaincy year on a high winning the Welcome Salver Eclectic.

Captains Drive In

Camilla and I would like to thank everyone who came to support us at the Captains Drive in on Saturday 26th October.

There were 22 teams who took part, in what was fed back as a great fun day with everyone appearing to have enjoyed themselves.

The winners were: David Arrow, Jack Law, Dimitri Lazarou and Tony Leslie with a nett 55.

In second place was Greg Bailey, Kieran Brennan, Rob Cooney, and Colin Duxberry with a nett 56.

Finally in third place on countback was George Ashwell, Craig Engeham, Alex Rhodes and Matthew Scutt with a nett 59.

Thanks to you all those for trying to guess the lengths of the drives for our charities (Crossroads Care Surrey and 4Louis). I wasn't embarrased really. Dean Rogers guessing my less than impressive 95 yards and Derek Hughes guessing Camilla's more impressive drive of 177 yards.

Thanks, Keith

Final Presentations of my year!

I had the pleasure of presenting my final trophies of the year before I had over to Keith Stinson. Paul Cooper and Dan Mansfield won the Williams Cup and quite fittingly Keith Stinson won the trophy winners trophy!

Jenny and I would like to thank everyone for their support over the year and we wish Keith and Camilla all the best for the coming year!

Cheers

Tim AKA Smudger!
