Leatherhead win ends mixed friendly season

A 3-2 win for Leatherhead at Guildford on October 29th was a good way to end this season's mixed friendlies. There was such heavy rain for part of the round that even Guildford's greens got flooded, so well done to the team for battling through the weather. It was also a fitting result for the final match organised by Sylvia Kempsell and Mervyn Wynyard, who have run the mixed friendlies for more than 20 years.

Thompson Cup triumph for Camilla and Jane

An impressive 4BBB Stableford score of 44pts was more than enough to ensure Camilla Mott and Jane van Egmond won the ladies' Thompson Cups pairs competition on October 7th. In runner-up spot were Kinga Nemes and Sue Choularton with 41pts. The winning trophies date back to 1913 and must be amongst the club's oldest.

Mizuno knockout victory for Team Northeast

Steve and Jane Northeast continued in their winning ways, with a win in the regional section of this year's Mizuno pairs knockout competition. Following a first round away win at Guildford and a home win against Banstead Downs, they faced a tough semi-final away at Blackmoor. But they won on the 19th hole, with a birdie! Their unbeaten run continued with a 3&2 home win in the final against a pair from London Scottish. Well done to them!

As if that wasn't enough, they faced each other in the final of the Surrey Fire and Rescue Services Golf Society knockout on October 8th. It was a close match, but it was Jane who secured the family 'bragging rights' after winning 2-up.
