Football shirt surprise for Lady Captain Sue!

Lady Captain Sue Choularton had a wonderful surprise on her Lady Captain's Day when all the ladies had a co-ordinated unveiling of blue-and-white striped football shirts before the start of the event.

Sue, a passionate Chester FC fan, had asked for the ladies to dress in blue-and-white in honour of her football team. But she had no idea what was happening when they gathered for a team photo on the putting green.

When the photographers were ready, the ladies unzipped their jackets to reveal all were wearing Chester FC-style blue-and-white striped football shirts! Not only that, but their nicknames were on the back as well as numbers representing their handicaps.

It was a wonderful start to the day, which went on to raise £360 for the Captains' charities from a putting and chipping competition, beat-the-pro (a big thanks to Michael Lowe) and an auction.

There was a popular winner of the golf, with June Harris scoring an impressive 40pts, followed by Lady Vice-Captain Jenny Tracey, with Jane van Egmond third on countback. Jane Northeast won the putting and chipping competition.

A team of eight Leatherhead ladies beat international opposition when eight ladies from the La Manga Club in Spain flew over for a match on July 26th.

The La Manga team were captained by Gabby Coates, who is also a member of Leatherhead. Plans are now being hatched for the 'away' fixture in 2024 when La Manga will no doubt hope to get their revenge.
