Blown away by Ladies' Invitation Day

Thirty ladies braved unseasonably gusty July winds to take part in our Ladies' Invitation Day on Saturday, with their generosity raising an amazing £728 for our Captains' charities.

The winners on the day were Jane van Egmond and Dorking visitor Debbie Gale, who shot a pairs BB Stableford score of 39 points. Their score was boosted by Debbie playing her charity Joker card on the 10th hole where she chipped in for 4 points and an extra 4 Joker points to help take their final score to 46 points!

Runners-up were Sylvia Kempsell and her Worthing guest Simone Makepeace, who also shot 39 points before their Joker scores were added on, taking their final score to 44 points.

Third place on countback went to Worthing visitors Donna Pragnell and Jane Cole, who scored 43 points once their Jokers were played. They just beat Zeenat Nanji and her Coombe Wood guest Lynda Bailey.

Thank you to everyone who took part, with our 16 visitors all enjoying a day which included a putting competition, raffle, fourball voucher auction and an afternoon tea.

Druce bronze medal for Leatherhead ladies

Leatherhead's team of Lorna Dolinska, Camilla Mott, Jane Northeast and Jenny Tracey can be proud of their third place finish against a field representing 60 Surrey clubs in the annual Druce Trophy at Cuddington on July 6.

The Foursomes eclectic tournament saw Lorna and Camilla team up in the morning, with Jane and Jenny as our afternoon representatives aiming to better the scores of the morning pair on each hole.

With Leatherhead having the lowest handicap of the entire field at 17.75, Lorna and Camilla had an excellent morning with their nett score of 73.25 leaving our team well placed at ninth.

It was Jane and Jenny's job to better their score in the afternoon and the dynamic duo managed to do that on 11 holes, taking the nett team score to 62.25.

As one of the early starters, we spent a considerable time at the top of the clubhouse leaderboard. But as the later scores came in, we were finally pipped by Worplesdon's 60.25 and lost out on runner-up spot on countback to Windlesham, who also scored 62.25.

It was a memorable day all round and we look can look forward to the 2024 tournament at Woodcote Park.
