Skippy scoops Nancy Manson Trophy

The first ladies' Major competition of the year - the Nancy Manson Trophy - was won on Saturday by Sylvia Kempsell, with a Stableford score of 35 points.

Runner-up, with 33 points, was Catrin Roberts and in third position was Jane van Egmond, with 30 points. On a day which was carry only and with wet conditions underfoot, it was good scoring for our top three.

Sunningdale joy for Steve and Jane

Congratulations to Captain Steve Northeast and wife Jane for winning the Fleming Winter Mixed Foursomes knockout at Sunningdale Heath on Wednesday.

Our dynamic duo beat their final opponents Giang Chatelan, from the RAC, and her pro partner Brian Jackson, from Dukes Meadow, by 7&5 to claim the historic silverware and a £400 cash prize each.

Steve and Jane won four rounds on the heathland course over winter, to reach the final in an annual knockout competition that can consist of one professional and one amateur. It's a great result as neither of the Northeasts (yet) have professional status!

Congratulations to Lorna and Luke

Well done to Lorna Dolinksa and Luke Davies, who are the winners of our first 2023 trophy competition. In typically wet Easter Monday weather they won the mixed foursomes D'Aguilar Cup, with a score of 34pts. They beat Sue Choularton and Keith Stinson on countback, after all eight pairs participating started with 8pts to account for only playing 14 holes.

Pearson ladies bow out

Our Pearson ladies are out of this season's competition after being defeated in the first round of the knockout stages by Worplesdon. Although the team did well to beat Worplesdon 4-3 in the away leg on March 29, we lost our home advantage for the home tie. Due to our course being down to 14 holes, we had to play them again at Worplesdon on April 11. It was a tough ask to expect the same result, and we were 5-1 down when the final match was called in.

We've played eight matches since October and have done remarkably well to reach the knockout stages for the fifth Pearson competition in a row. Thanks to all the ladies who represented Leatherhead and to Jane Northeast for her calm and supportive captaincy.
